4 Myths About Life In A 55+ Community To Ignore

There are plenty of myths about life in a 55+ adult community; unfortunately, some of these myths keep potential residents from living out their dreams in these communities. Make sure you do not fall into this category. If you are older than fifty-five and want to call a unique community home, learn what myths you should ignore.

Boring Life

If anyone has told you that life in one of these communities is boring, do not believe them. Many of these communities have a long list of on-site activities and amenities for residents to enjoy. For example, some communities have gyms, pools, libraries, game rooms, and a host of other activities for residents to partake in. Best of all, many of these activities are already included in the housing fee, so there is no need to pay extra to enjoy these activities.

Limited Personalization

Some people also believe that moving into one of these communities means giving up on their style. There is a misconception that the layout and design of these properties are bland and lack any personalization options. However, your residence in the community is all your own. Whether you want to update the landscaping in the front yard, change the fixtures in the bathroom, or paint the walls, you can make the home your own.

Limited Socialization

You should also ignore anyone that tells you that living in a fifty-five-plus community is isolating or lonely. In fact, it is the exact opposite. When you call one of these communities home, you have the luxury of living in a community full of like-minded people who are in the same phase of life as you and share many of the same interests. As a result, it is as if you have a built-in friendship and support network with your neighbors.

Safety Issues

It is important to note that no place is perfectly free of crime, but it is equally important to note the lengths these communities go to keep their residents safe. From gated access to on-site security to in-home security alarms, many of these communities have security systems that help keep their residents safe so that they can roam about the community and rest well, knowing they are safe.

If you have additional questions about life in a 55+ community, be sure to speak with a resident representative, such as Keri Patrick, for more information and to clear up any misconceptions you might have.
